ABV 17: Silver Tequila Tasting

Today we’re tasting Blanco/Plata/Silver and White Tequila… because they all mean the same thing! You’ll find only 100% de Agave on the table and each brand brings its own unique charm and character for good or bad. We’ve got Patrón Silver, Sauza Hornito’s Plata, Republic Tequila Blanco, Cabo Wabo Silver and El Gran Jubileo Blanco.

Our goal was to introduce the silver’s with at least a couple well known brands that can be purchased in most regions, so we’ve got the Cabo Wabo, Patrón and somewhat the Sauze Hornito’s as the three brands you can hunt down. Or, try to be more creative and get a brand you’ve never heard of before!

    Nice one.

    And after some searching..i have managed to find a 100% de agave tequila on a few spots over here. Takes me about a hour to get to the closest one but hey =P. Oh and it's the Hornitos reposado that i found, nothing else (yet).

    NICE! That's a damn good find. Think on this, some folks in Texas have 100's to choose from BUT, they still have at least a 1-hour drive to get it (big State!)

    The sad part was that these bottles where actually hidden behind some other “tequila” bottles (all mixto's) on the very bottom shelf of the store. I'll see what's that about the next time i'm around there.

    Sounds like the store owner doesn't know what they're doing. Or, customers shuffled stuff around and it got “lost.” Which if it stays there for awhile, it goes back to my first point–the store owner doesn't know what they have.

    Now, I've only tried a couple of tequilas…but one you recommended that I like is the 1800 Silver 100% De Agave (not the 100% like you used, but the 40%) & it is absolutely delicious. I layered it on top of Hpnotiq as you suggested in your “Hpno Toniq” video & it's even chick friendly! lmao! I gotta keep this stuff around!

    Yeah, the only 1800 silver I have is the 100-Proof one. I just got three more 100-Proof tequila's in from a brand, so I may have to do a 100-Proof tasting or put them, blindly into non-100 Proof tequila's and see if you can detect it.

    I do have an 1800 Reposado that's the normal 40% ABV as well, that's for a future repo tasting.
