Captain Morgan Tattoo, Sailor Jerry’s, The Kraken and Jenkin’s Spiced Rum

ABV 29: Spiced Rum Tasting/Review

This week we are tasting the spiced rum and we’re doing it four times with four unique blends including: Captain Morgan Tattoo, Sailor Jerry’s, The Kraken and Jenkin’s Spiced Rum. We put Jenkin’s into the mix to test are palates against a low grade of spiced rum.

What happened to the Private Stock?!?!?

I'm saving it for the next spice rum tasting with a few other brands.

I agree with your ratings fully. Tattoo isn't really the best of dark rums, does not mix well really. Jerry's is probably one of my favorite spiced rums. It's supposed to have a smooth cherry taste, but I don't really taste it to be honest. Works great in basic cocktails, but loses it's flair in heavy mixed cocktails (like long islands if you make it with spiced instead of white).

Also in the northwest, I don't think we can get jenkin's brand alcohol.
All in all good work with the tasting, I'd have probably given the same numbers give or take.

Yeah, the cocktails I think came out a little better (as you'll see on Saturday), the Tattoo was much more palatable as an alcohol instead of a medicine.

    Thanks!!
